One reason I've been awful is Kevin started rotations in late June and any free time we have now is spent catching up on our shows and of course meal prepping for his crazy schedule. I try (and am usually not that successful) to get him lunch and dinners he can just reheat and be done. Its a good thing he likes cereal because that seems to be what we are eating alot of (I'm a lousy wife most of the time). I generally work 7:30am to around 6pm every night with usually not a long lunch break. The Oil and Gas business is not for the weak let me tell you, but I'm pooped! So all my grand ideas of delicious meals vanish as I fight traffic every night in Houston. Seriously, traffic sucks the happy right out of me. And the fact that I work smack dab middle in the galleria area and holidays are just upon us, I shudder to think of what the traffic will be this year with all the new street lights they've added to Post Oak. Lucky for me, my office has a window overlooking Post oak so when I'm still at work (in the dark), I'll know which streets not to take or just stay in the office for another 30 minutes.
So far Kevin has loved being at the hospital everyday and in the classroom only few hours each week. He loved the 'Internal Medicine' rotation for 8 weeks....the 8 weeks of 'Surgery' not so much! I'm relieved, another 7 or 8 years after med school didn't really scream YES to me at all and that's exactly what I would get with surgery. Some of his stories really made my stomach queasy! He starts pediatrics this next week and I'm curious to see how he likes it.
As for me, I'm just working. I work in Risk (Insurance) for Apache Corporation, an Oil and Gas Company. I feel blessed to have a job and Apache does have some great perks. But why am I super excited these days? Because this one on the left just got home from being gone for 18 months!
She's living in California right now but I can't wait to see her and 'love her and squeeze her and call her George!' (name that show) Seriously, I've missed this one, we've been best friends since we were really young'ens. We've been through alot together (back surgery, camping trips from hell, high school dramas, getting our drivers licenses, bad hair styles, first loves, college, wedding planning and getting grown up jobs) and I'm happy I can now call her instead of just sending emails. I'd read a great book and want to talk to her about it and I couldn't, it was seriously frustrating! Word on the street is she may be in Texas at Christmas...where we might have a date planned at Chick-Fil-A, this is still pending, I'll have to compete for time with her...she's the youngest of 12. I have my work cut out for me that's for sure! But I'm nothing if not persistent and...veeerry sneaky!
